hey you guyz

The Bandoliers are playing two concerts in July you guyz! If you want to you can come to one of them, or both of them (or none of them).
This time we'll have a bass player and possibly do some old bluegrass songs.

it's that time again

Bandolier is playing another show at Why Sound, but this time we are headlining so we will have time to do more than five songs. Come see us again or for the first time. Rumor has it that we may even have some type of drum for percussion purposes!

It took me a while to figure out what I was doing in this one. I think I'm taking a guitar pick out of my mouth. Not sucking my finger.

Like the sounding of one thousand horns
Today I traded in my old banjo, Betsy. Here is (was) Betsy:

Here is my new banjo, Nadine:

Now, I realize that Nadine looks cheaper/cheesier than Betsy, but don't let the looks fool you. She sounds amazing and is about 1 billion times easier to play. Take banjo enthusiast and all-around genius composer Sufjan Stevens. He likes the same model:

Hopefully Nadine and I will be able to form a tightly-knit kinship before the fourth of July, when State College will again embark on an increasing vain effort to reach the masses.
If you enjoy poorly played banjo and obscure folk song covers, plus some equally poorly-written original material, be at the tennis courts of the Sommerset subdivision (Farmington) at high noon. Bring a heart full of good will and sturdy shoes.

Logan Rock City

Jay-Z review here.
Also, yesterday Dan and I played at the "Smile on Your Brother" benefit concert here in Logan, along with some terrible hippie bands (sorry, they just weren't very good). A big shout out to those who attended including my Aunt Jackie, my parents and sister, and several friends and co-workers.
I don't have any pictures of the event, but just imagine a school cafeteria and some Christmas lights, plus me playing a banjo (there is no evidence of me actually knowing how to play the banjo, but I did anyways).

A Good Time Was Had By All

The Diabetes concert went off nearly without a hitch it seems, despite the fact that:
A) It was twelve billion degrees centigrade
B)The only people there were the organizers and immediate family members of the band
It was pretty cool to be using a real PA system, but I think the audio guy hated us. He asked us what we wanted our "central monitor mix" to sound like and we just stared at him. I mean, we knew what he was talking about but I could not think of one thing to respond with that wouldn't make me sound stupid. Maybe, "balanced"?
Anyways, we played for about an hour up there, which included an encore of the first two songs we played to start the show. (So Dan's parents could video tape them). I know what you are thinking and yes, it was a very classy affair indeed.
Behold the pictures, especially the one where I am letting loose with the shaker.
